Riverwalk - walking and food


A weekend months before a possible move feels like the right thing. We stayed at a modernized B&B's carriage house that was luxurious - out of a west elm catalog, but with even more flare. 1902 Ayers is part of a historic neighborhood with homes mostly in the 700s. Great for morning jogs and La Fonda Mexican restaurant around the corner was devine. We experienced riverwalk early morning, parking at the mall for ease. We did the boat tour and guacamole at Casa del Rio...ummm
Using recs from a couple of locals and the B&B we had our Droids running zillow and navigation to explore neighborhoods.
We really liked Alamo heights (Broadway), but houses run 300s+.
The new community out near 281 and 1604 called cilibo canyon is top notch. Although newer areas aren't usually my thing, nice daily provisions are nearby; unlike the downtown area. We need to also look at Terramont, which was advertised as having views of the foothills. Stone Oak neighborhoods, we also liked... all along the TPC parkway.
La Contera is an outdoor shopping area that is beautifully done upscale shops. We also caught a movie at the Alamo. Recs were given for visits to Gruene for historic downtown, shops, and tubing on the Guatalupe river... ideas for another time.
